Closure outcomes - advice

This advice provides information regarding case closure outcomes as recorded in CRIS.

Introduction

A case can be moved to the closure phase from any of the preceding phases.

Outcomes recorded in CRIS

The following outcomes may be recorded when moving a case to closure phase:

  • Intake phase:
    • inappropriate referral – no further action
    • insufficient information – no further action
    • child and or family concerns - advice and or information
    • significant concern for the wellbeing of a child - refer to Child FIRST.
  • Investigation phase:
    • child and or family concerns – advice and information
    • significant concern for the wellbeing of a child – refer to Child FIRST
    • substantiated – sufficient safety provided.
  • Protective intervention phase:
    • no further action required.
  • Protection order phase:
    • move to closure.

Following the completion of all actions and tasks in the closure phase, the 'Reason for Closure Outcomes' recorded in CRIS are as follows:

  • adoption order made
  • child or young person died
  • child or young person moved overseas
  • Family Court order made
  • family moved interstate
  • family moved overseas
  • permanent care order made
  • protective involvement ceased
  • unable to supervise – child or young person not able to be contacted
  • unable to supervise – family not able to be contacted
  • young person attains 18 years of age
  • young person married
  • order expires at term
  • order expires after initial 12 months
  • closed at intake
  • new allegation confirmed.*

* New allegation confirmed serves to shift a case from closure phase back to investigation phase.
