Document ID number 3142.5, version 2, 2 February 2023.

This document provides guidance for practitioners on what considerations must be undertaken to determine if a child may require accommodation outside the family home due to complex disability support needs.

Some children who come to the attention of child protection may require accommodation outside the family home due to complex disability support needs. Principal Disability Practice Advisors (PDPAs) within each division can support child protection link families where there are no protective concerns to additional supports with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). PDPAs are also available to provide specialist NDIS advice to child protection for children with disability who are at risk of harm and require a statutory response.
